The tomb could have been accessible as a museum

The firm embankment of the monumental tomb and the construction of the sealing walls, after the weeklong march through the tomb of Amfipoli and the revelation of the marvellous floor mosaic, has triggered some second thoughts from the archaelogists of Katerina Peristeri's team about the making and usage of the monument.

"Our excavation progress has brought us some second thoughts about the embankment not being synchronous with the construction of the monument. It could have been open and accessible for some time and the sealing could have taken place at a later time", stated mrs. Mendoni, echoing the thoughts of all her colleagues.

They claim there is a possibility that the monument could have been sealed a decate or two after its construction.
